Lior & Nomad String Quartet (Orange Chamber Music Festival)
“First Violinist Ben Adler’s klezmer background bleeds over into his lead performance for a wonderfully unconventional take on a classical piece – bends and energy abound.”
Nomad String Quartet : The best of Danish folksongs
“Show time and the cellist James Larsen arrived on stage who was greeted warmly. The remaining three artists of the newly titled Nomad Quartet (Ben Adler, Yuhki Mayne and Beth Condon) began to play whilst walking up the aisles from the rear of the church. This was a brilliant way to include the audience in the performance. The music began slowly with an etheric feel then grew on the stage to a raucous, toe tapping dance. A wonderful way to set the consistent mood for the rest of the performance.”
"A mix between Stéphane Grappelli and The Lord of the Dance...the audience gave a standing ovation"
“The music and stories were so enjoyable”
“The concert felt slightly out with timing occasionally but soon clicked into place producing a tight and well aligned rhythm.”
Concert Review: Mendelssohn String Quartets by Nomad String Quartet
“Always ready to engage directly with his audience, founding artistic director and first violinist Ben Adler, introduced the works with a charisma and good-humoured banter that had a serious core intention… ”
“…rose to this challenge, unfolding the alternating manic throbbing and undulating lyricism of the opening Allegro with intensity and focus. “
“The exuberant last movement brought out the quartet’s theatrical flair and Adler led the others on a breathless dance to the finish.”
Dance Music On Strings
There’s a quality to string quartets that makes their performances sublime. There is joy and intimacy in the music that they create, or in the case of Candlelight recreate, where the range, dynamism and timbre of their instruments come to the fore. The Ben Adler Quartet is one of Sydney’s best and you can hear them work their skill and magic to deliver spellbinding renditions of Daft Punk’s greatest hits in April and May.
LIVE AT MECCA : A ‘LIVE AT YOURS’ EVENT – BEN ADLER QUARTET AT MECCA COFFEE ALEXANDRIA.
Live at Yours is the brainchild of conductor/pianist Vladimir Fanshil and wife, opera singer Eleanor Lyons. Courtesy of the pandemic the duo were unable to return to their adopted home of Vienna,
following Eleanor’s successful debut as Donna Anna in Opera Australia’s production of Don Giovanni in pre-COVID-19 Sydney.
“I also recognise the Nomad String Quartet… who delivered such (a) moving performance.“
